Meet Chango: Spotlight on Ben Plomion from our NYC Office
Every month we feature one of Chango's employees. After interviewing with our CTO Mazdak Rezvani in Toronto, we are now turning our attention to marketing.
What’s your role at Chango?
I work as Director of Marketing. To put it in it simplest terms, my role is to raise the company profile and help the sales team win more clients. In addition, I lead our Data Partner program.
Why would you say Chango is different than other retargeting companies?
When I joined Chango, the first thing that struck me was the level of granularity required to run a successful display campaign. Many targeting companies use segment-based data. Search Retargeting is different; it's really about finding those customers that have expressed an interest in products and services. This is captured in the form of search queries. We are doing for display what Google has done for search with AdWords.
What keeps you awake at night?
We have built a marketing and communications function in a very short period of time. The challenge for me is to continue raising our company profile while providing marketing leadership and support into high-priority verticals. Finding the right alignment between marketing resources and company goals is the most challenging part of a high growth organization such as Chango.
Why is Chango such an awesome place to work?
The caliber of the people, from the management team to the developers, is incredible. Also, the type of marketing that we do at Chango is more entrepreneurial than what I was previously doing in the corporate world . I wrote an article on CMO.com about this topic titled “Big-Brand marketing Lessons From The Little Guys"
What’s your favorite question on Quora?
"Why do I spend so much time on Quora?" In all seriousness, Quora is a great resource for marketers. I find most contributions insightful and try to give back to the Quora community.
